For nearly 20 years David Burton has been providing high-quality and creative images for a wide diversity of clients. His paintings and illustrations have appeared as covers and interiors for hardcover and paperback books, magazines, comic books, advertising art, and character design for movies. He has won numerous awards for his work and is featured in collections around the world.
Unlike some artists who embed themselves in one area or genre, David enjoys the challenges encountered by illustrating a diversity of job types and subject matters. As such he is just as comfortable painting a domestic scene of young adults as he is in painting a film noir detective or a fantasy scene with a dragon.
Born in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1960 his earliest artistic influences were comic books. David is a mostly self taught artist, he has also teaches a free art class for anyone willing to participate at his town's library, every Monday night. David has claimed that he is able to teach anyone how to draw and paint and to this date, he has not met anyone who has taken his class that he hasn't been able to teach how to draw and paint.
Aside from art, David produced, directed and written a television commercial, written a script for a short film (which was made), worked in special effects, done some light stunt work, has acted in films and is a published poet.
Two of his paintings will appear in the opening credits for the Jared Hess ("Napoleon Dynamite") film, "Gentlemen Broncos".
In the Summer of 2001, Al Williamson made David an Honorary member of the Feagle Gang (the exclusive artist group, not the bank robbers), which back in 1952, along with frequent collaborators, Roy Krenkel, Angelo Torres and Frank Frazetta form while they were working at EC Comics. Al informed David that only original, living members could make anyone an honorary member and that membership was very limited. The only people who have been made members are Gary Gianni, William Stout and Mark Schultz. None of the honorary members can invite new members until all original living members have passed away.
Influences on Burton are Frank Frazetta, Roy Krenkel, Boris, Julie Bell, Gary Gianni, Monet, Brom, Bob Eggleton, John Singer Sargent, John W.Waterhouse, Solomon J. Solomon, Walter Baumhofer, J. Allen St. John, Howard Pyle, N. C. Wyeth and many others.

"Awesome. Better than I could've imagined. A magnificent depiction of Wagner's Kane; a raw and bloodied vision in which I can hear the screams of the fallen and the warmth of the unrelenting flames. I honestly mean that David. This is one of the best depiction's of Kane I have ever seen. Excellent imagery. I am honoured to have you as the cover artist on my book, THE FANTASTIC WORLDS OF KARL EDWARD WAGNER". - Benjamin Szumskyj, author & editor
